Help us make a difference

The Meaningful Shop is partnered with Meaningful Volunteer.  Meaningful Volunteer has some fantastic projects all over the world.  Shown below are some of the projects and how you can help make a difference.

Necklaces
Project Lifecycle

Necklaces - Project Lifecycle

Our Project Lifecycle is expanding into a further six villages on the small island of Tablas in the Philippines and we are need of more fertility necklaces.

The fertility necklaces make use of the SDM (Standard Days Method).  SDM is 100% natural and developed by Georgetown University in the States.  The fertility necklace has the lady put a small rubber ring on a red bead on the first day of her menstrual cycle. She moves the rubber ring around one bead everyday.  When the rubber ring is on the brown bead days, she can have unprotected intercourse and almost certainly not get pregnant.  White bead days are considered fertile days.  If used correctly, the method is 95% effective.

Training - Project Lifecycle

Our Project Lifecycle is expanding into a further six villages on the small island of Tablas in the Philippines.

We will conduct a training seminar to ensure that all the local health care workers are well versed in the use of the SDM method (see below).  We will bring a Filipina family planning expert down from Manila to conduct the training over the course of two days.  Click here to learn about our previous seminar.

We have an overall budget of $250 for this training.

Netbook Computers
RYE School

Netbook Computers - RYE School

Meaningful Volunteer is about to launch it's RYE School Initiative in Uganda.  Part of the program will be increasing the computer literacy of local Ugandans.  Currently, we have three netbook computers (kindly donated by Bob Bozsa) but we need more computers so as to reach even more Ugandans.  We will take the students through topics such as Windows, Word, Excel and so on.  Even just the ability to type will open up many doors for them.

Each netbook computer costs $350.

The netbook computers are the best choice for our programs because a) they are cheap, and b) very portable, which allows us to take the computers to a secure location after the classes have finished.

Projector - RYE School

Meaningful Volunteer is about to launch it's RYE School Initiative in Uganda.  Part of the program will be increasing the computer literacy of local Ugandans.  Currently, we have three netbook computers (kindly donated by Bob Bozsa) for the Ugandan classes.

We believe strongly that just because you live in a developing country, that doesn't mean that you have to use sub-par resources.  Teaching a computer class without a projector is just hard.  It is hard to tell a class to "click on that green button on the bottom left of the screen", but very easy to say "click here like I am doing."

Mosquito Nets
Malaria Operation

Mosquito Nets - Malaria Operation

The Meaningful Shop is supporting the Malaria Operation - a process driven net distribution program in the small rural parish of Buyaya in Eastern Uganda.

The Malaria Operation needs nets.  Lotsa and lotsa nets.

By purchasing nets you are making a real and meaningful difference in the life of a Ugandan.

A recent study concluded that for every 1000 children protected by mosquito nets, 5.5 lives would be saved each year.
