Nekolina Opua was born December 28th, 1958. She now resides in Jinja.
Her and her husband left Kitgum 35 years ago because of difficulties such as war and no job prospects. Her husband has since passed away but she is not exactly sure of the cause, she suspects some kind of poisoning.
She has 8 children. Her eldest was born in 1978 and youngest born in 1998. Of her own 8 children, 6 are in school and 2 are working in Budhibuzo, Western Uganda.
In 2003 her 2 brothers were traveling from Kitgum to Kampala and got ambushed by the LRA - they were killed. So Nekolina also now looks after 4 of her nieces and nephews.
2 of her sisters have died from AIDS, their 2 children are still living in Kitgum.
In total there are 11 people living in her house. She has great difficulty paying school fees but at least in Jinja it is relatively safe and no IDP camps. Since she is a widow she wishes for a better house and that she could get some help with school fees and food for her children. She often makes herself sick with worry.
She is eternally grateful for the miracle man, Malcolm Trevena.
