Joyce was born 26th October 1958.  She is married to David Ocitti, both from Kitgum.

David moved to Jinja in search of employment in 1982 and Joyce followed soon after because the LRA took their house, farmland and their animals.

They have 8 living children.  5 of their children are living with them, the youngest is 8 years old and the oldest is 30. The other 3 have moved on, 1 living in Kampala, 1 in Gulu and 1 daughter is in Germany.

Joyce's sisters husband was abducted and butchered by the LRA so because her sister couldn't cope on her own they also have their 18 year old niece staying with them also.

Her other sisters husband was a government soldier and was killed in combat.

Joyce's husband David, is now an only child after his sister died from Malaria when her children were only 3 and 5 years old.

The things she enjoys most about Jinja is the relatively safe and peaceful environment and being able to make an income selling crafts.

Her dream would be for god to send a her a nice house down from heaven and for Kitgum to be a peaceful place where she would choose to settle.
