Claire is originally from Gulu, but fled to Jinja in 1989 to escape the LRA.

She was taking her brother to hospital one time in Gulu, when the LRA ambushed them.  They took shelter and the government soon arrived and engaged the LRA in a shoot out.  The LRA quickly retreated.  One lady that she was with was so scared that she threw her baby and just ran.

Her father and mother-in-law were abducted by the LRA and are missing presumed dead.

Life is much better for Claire in Jinja, but still quite hard.  Her sister passed away from HIV and Claire cares for her two orhaned nieces and her own four children.

Claire lives in a housing division on the outskirts of the Massese slum.  She doesn't like living her and wishes she could moveto a better house.  The roof of her house leaks and there is often surface flooding when it rains.  The floor is slowly erroding as groundwater rises from below.

She wishes she has the finances for school fees for her children, a nice house, a nice bed, and no more worries.
